How to Embroider Details on Amigurumi
Embroidered details are what give amigurumi their personality. Eyes, noses, mouths, and markings can all be stitched on using simple embroidery techniques. No fancy skills needed — just a yarn needle and some patience.
You can use embroidery thread, thin yarn, or even regular sewing thread doubled up. Black is the most common for eyes and mouths, but use whatever colors your pattern calls for.
Planning the face
Before you start stitching, mark where you want each feature using pins or stitch markers. Look at your piece from the front, sides, and top to make sure everything is centered and symmetrical.

Embroidering features
Thread your needle and knot the end. Insert the needle from the back or bottom of the piece (somewhere hidden) and come out where you want to start stitching. This hides the knot inside the stuffing.
For eyes, simple straight stitches or French knots work well. For a nose, a small V or triangle shape made with straight stitches is classic. For a mouth, a single straight line or a curved line works.

When you're done, push the needle back through the piece and out somewhere hidden. Pull gently to sink the knot into the stuffing, then trim the thread close to the surface.

Tip: If you're nervous about placement, practice on a scrap piece first. And remember — slightly imperfect faces often end up looking the most charming.
